Estate and Grounds Person

  • Part time / Full Time
  • Flexible Hours
  • Competitive Pay + Tips

Love working outdoors and taking pride in a job well done? We’re looking for a hands-on Estate & Grounds Person to help maintain our stunning country house hotel, from gardens and grounds to repairs and general upkeep.

About the role

We are looking for a practical, hands-on Estate & Grounds Person to help maintain our country house hotel and its grounds. The role is varied, combining property maintenance, gardening, repairs, and general estate upkeep to ensure the property is always presented to a high standard.

The position can be structured flexibly as either a full-time role covering both maintenance and grounds responsibilities, or as part-time specialist roles focused on Grounds & Gardening or Property Maintenance, depending on the successful candidate(s).

If you take pride in practical work, enjoy variety, and like working in a beautiful rural setting as part of a friendly team, we’d love to hear from you.

What the Role Involves

  • Maintain the hotel buildings, guest areas, outbuildings and grounds to a consistently high standard
  • Carry out both planned and reactive maintenance across the property
  • Complete general maintenance work including painting, decorating, basic joinery, and minor repairs
  • Carry out gardening, grounds maintenance, and seasonal estate work
  • Support the upkeep of plumbing, heating, and other building systems
  • Monitor estate infrastructure, including drainage, waste management, and equipment
  • Assist with compliance checks and record keeping where required
  • Support areas such as PAT testing, Legionella monitoring, and biomass system maintenance (training provided)
  • Work closely with the management team and external contractors to help ensure the estate remains safe, efficient, and welcoming for guests

The Kind of Person We’re Looking For

  • Experience in property maintenance, estate work, gardening, groundskeeping, handyman services, or a similar hands-on role
  • Strong all-round maintenance skills, with the ability to work independently
  • Pride in your work, with a keen eye for detail and high standards
  • A proactive, practical approach to problem-solving
  • Reliable, organised, and happy to take on a wide variety of tasks
  • Friendly and professional, with an understanding of the standards expected in a high-quality hospitality environment

What You’ll Receive

  • A generous pay package, tailored to experience and responsibilities
  • Competitive tronc (tip) payments on top of your wages
  • Meals provided whilst on shift
  • A paid day off on your birthday
  • Flexible hours and working patterns, wherever possible
  • Training and support in specialist areas, with opportunities to develop new skills
  • A varied and rewarding role where no two days are quite the same
  • The opportunity to work in and help care for a beautiful country house hotel and grounds
  • A friendly, supportive team and a positive working environment
