Our restaurant is open daily and welcomes you for all the good stuff – a hearty breakfast, a leisurely lunch, or a relaxed supper.
Breakfast: 8am – 9.15am
Lunch: 12pm – 2.30pm
Dinner: 6.30pm – 8pm
We also keep the cake stands stacked and serve tray bakes, sweet treats, and delicious tea and coffee all day long.
Absolutely! The restaurant and bar are open to everyone - whether you’re here for a proper meal, a tipple by the fire, or just great coffee and a chat, you're more than welcome to join us.
Walk-ins are welcome, but do give us a ring ahead if you’d like to book a spot – particularly if the sun’s out and the terrace is extra-tempting!
If you're staying with us, we’ll always reserve you a table for dinner – just let us know what time you would like to dine at check-in. If you'd prefer to head elsewhere to eat, we completely understand - we’d just ask that you let us know in advance so that we can release the table to other diners.
For non-residents, we highly recommend booking ahead (especially over weekends or in the busier months) to make sure we can squeeze you in.
Of course – just let us know ahead of time and we’ll make sure the kitchen has you covered. Whether you're vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, or have other dietary needs, we’ll do our best to whip up something you’ll love.
Yes, you can – and we’ll always try our best to make it happen. Just mention any preferences when booking and we’ll do what we can to seat you just where you’d like.

Dinner is more of a moveable feast – our evening menu changes daily based on what’s fresh and what’s good. We’re happy to send over that evening’s menu or give you a flavour of what to expect if you get in touch.
Yes, we do – and they make a lovely present for food-lovers. Whether it’s for a special occasion or just because, our dining vouchers can be used for lunch, dinner, or Afternoon Tea. Available to buy online or at reception.
Nothing too fancy – we’re all about relaxed, country comfort. Smart-casual works best (think shoes rather than flip-flops, and shirts instead of sportswear). Come as you are – just no dressing gowns, please!
Four-legged friends are welcome in the private dining room, bar, Oak Room lounge, garden, and in dog-friendly bedrooms - but not in the restaurant. Lunch and Afternoon Tea can be served in these areas too, so your pup doesn’t have to miss out. Do let us know in advance if you’re bringing your pooch so we can make sure tails are wagging all round.

We do indeed – carefully curated and full of character, with wines from small producers around the world and a few standout English vineyards too.

Our wine list is lovely, but if you have a special bottle you'd like to bring, that's no problem – we just charge a corkage fee. Best to let us know in advance.

Afternoon Tea is available by reservation only, and does get booked up quickly – particularly at weekends – so do call as far ahead as possible to secure your slot.
Yes, weather permitting! Our terrace and garden offer beautiful spots for a relaxed lunch or Afternoon Tea with a view of the Yorkshire Dales. Perfect for sunny days and long, lazy afternoons.

Autumn is one of the best times to spot red squirrels at Snaizeholme, just a short drive from us. At this time of year, they’re busy foraging and gathering food to see them through the winter months.
If you’re hoping to catch a glimpse of these adorable little creatures, here are a few tips for your visit:
🕰️ Go early or late - red squirrels tend to be most active in the early morning and late afternoon
🌤️ Pick a calm, dry day - they’re more likely to stay tucked away when it’s wet or windy
🥾 Wear sturdy footwear - the circular walk is around 2.5-miles, with some steep, uneven sections
🐶 Consider leaving the dog at home - dogs are welcome on leads, but squirrels are shy, so you may have better luck without your four-legged friend
🚗 Plan your parking - parking at Snaizeholme is very limited and must be booked in advance. Alternatively, you can arrange transport from Hawes on the @the.littlewhitebus_udcpltd It’s worth checking the arrangements before setting off so you can enjoy a stress-free visit.
Of course, as with all wildlife, sightings are never guaranteed. But if you’re lucky enough to spot one, they’re certainly worth the wait!

✨ An Evening to Remember ✨
A crackling fire, a hot drink, and a little unexpected magic in the skies above Stone House.
These lovely guests, enjoying our Dark Skies Escape package, were treated to a beautiful glimpse of the Northern Lights last night – a rather special addition to their evening under the stars.
Tucked away on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, we’re fortunate to enjoy some wonderfully dark skies, and with the nights drawing in, there’s plenty to look forward to overhead.
🔭 Coming up in October’s night skies:
☄️ 21–22 October | Orionid Meteor Shower
A chance to spot shooting stars created by debris from Halley’s Comet, with up to 15–20 meteors an hour under ideal conditions.
🪐 24 October | The Moon Meets Saturn
Look out for the Moon appearing close to Saturn in the evening sky.
🌕 26 October | Hunter’s Moon
October’s full moon, traditionally associated with the autumn hunting season, illuminating the Dales.
✨ 27–28 October | The Seven Sisters
Watch as the Moon passes in front of stars in the Pleiades cluster, also known as the Seven Sisters, in a beautiful celestial event called a lunar occultation.
Of course, clear skies are never guaranteed, and neither are the Northern Lights, but that’s all part of the magic. Sometimes all you need is a warm fire, a blanket, good company and a reason to look up.

🐑🐾 A busy day in the Yorkshire Dales!
Meet Doug, hard at work gathering sheep off the fells just a few miles from Stone House earlier this week.
At this time of year, sheep are gathered from the hills for dipping, helping to protect them and keep their fleeces healthy. The younger sheep are then returned to the fells until tupping time, when the rams are introduced to the ewes for breeding ahead of spring lambing.
It’s all part of the traditional farming calendar in the Yorkshire Dales, and a lovely glimpse into the rhythms of rural life that continue right on our doorstep.

Our Dark Skies Escape is available on stays of two nights or more during October or November. Enjoy a three-course dinner on one evening, use of our telescope, a practical stargazing guide and a Dark Skies basket filled with treats to enjoy beneath the stars.
As night falls, the Dales come into their own. With so little light pollution, step outside and see the stars in all their glory - from familiar constellations to bright planets. And if the conditions are just right, you might even catch the Northern Lights overhead.

There’s a word the Dutch have that we don’t quite have in English: gezellig (heh-SELL-ick).
It can mean cosy, warm or inviting, but it’s also something more than that: time spent with people you love, seeing an old friend after far too long, or simply that feeling of being somewhere you’re very happy to be.
We like to think Stone House is rather gezellig - and these photographs seem to capture it perfectly.
They come courtesy of some lovely guests from the Netherlands, who stayed with us earlier this year, arriving in a rather beautiful vintage Bentley and leaving us with a little glimpse of their stay.

Love leading a team, taking pride in the little details, and making sure every room feels just right? We’re looking for a Head Housekeeper to lead our friendly housekeeping team here at Stone House.
It’s a hands-on leadership role. You’ll oversee breakfast each morning and then lead the housekeeping team through the day, with rotas, room checks and training.
Our current Head Housekeeper is staying on as part of the team, so you’ll have experienced support while you make the role your own.
🗓 Full time, 40 hours per week
💷 £31,000–£34,000 plus a generous tronc (typically £2,500–£3,000 a year)
🌿 Every other weekend off, your birthday off, and a meal on every shift
